On October 28, Guangdong Imported Food Association President Qi Yilong was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Guangzhou, and was warmly received by the ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to China.

At the meeting, the ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to China, Bakhtiyol Saidov, delivered a welcome speech. He extended welcome and expressed his thanks to the leaders at all levels, friends from all over the world, outstanding business representatives and all the distinguished guests who came to attend the ceremony.

At the event site, President Qi had a serious discussion with the ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to China and the commercial counselors on the current tendency of imported food industry in South China and on the issues of cooperation in the entry of Uzebikistan food into China. President Qi noted that the establishment of the consulate will provide a broad prospect for the business communication and and economic development between China and Uzbekistan.

The commercial counselor said that at present, the Republic of Uzbekistan is also the best investment partner along the international “Belt and Road” in Central Asia. There have been 16 kinds of products entering the Chinese market, which are mainly organic agricultural products such as fresh cherries, honey, raisins, dried apricots and walnuts; an additional 20 kinds of products are expected to enter the Chinese market in 2021. However, they have encountered the problems of being unfamiliar with the market and not knowing the Chinese people’s knowledge of product packaging, flavor, etc. They hoped to establish a branch of Guangdong Imported Food Association in Uzbekistan in cooperation with IFA, so as to solve all kinds of problems for local exporters.

In the future, the association will strengthen its cooperation with the Consulate General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Guangzhou and other commercial organizations, and make joint efforts to promote the development of food industry both in China and Uzbekistan.
